The Eivissa City Council, through the Department of Gardens, will continue with the municipal tree pruning campaign this Friday, October 17, at two specific points on Aragón Street : the intersection with Madrid Street and the intersection with Historiador Josep Clapés.
The operation will work between 9:00 and 12:00 , in a plan to act by sections and by intersections, reinforcing tree pruning criteria , in order to guarantee safety, improve efficiency and avoid unnecessary inconvenience to residents and businesses.
Cuts and schedules
Traffic disruptions will be localized and limited to the specific work area each day, ensuring that traffic and pedestrian flow remain as smooth as possible. The 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM time slot has been chosen to avoid coinciding with peak school and workplace arrival and dismissal times, and also to facilitate measures aimed at improving daylight and road safety.
During the execution of the works, temporary signage will be installed , so please pay attention to the notices on public roads and, if necessary, relocate vehicles or adjust loading and unloading in the affected areas.
Trees and scope of intervention
On Aragón Street, a total of 139 trees will be pruned , including 31 ficus (Ficus nitida) , 104 Washingtonia palms (of varying heights), and 4 Celtis australis . The aim is to improve the canopy, remove branches that interfere with building facades and streetlights, and promote a healthy tree structure along the street.
This phase is already underway and will extend into next week at the same time, with a staggered work plan to maintain continuity of service and minimize the impact on mobility.
Crossing planning and safety
The Parks and Gardens team and the public works support staff use a planned, intersection-by-intersection methodology , so that work is carried out at only one point each day. This reduces closure times, improves coordination with traffic, and shortens necessary detours.
Furthermore, the project prioritizes the safety of pedestrians and drivers through the use of barriers, signage, and the swift removal of debris. Efficiency is paramount to optimize resources and minimize the time machinery is on the road.
Performances in Platja d'en Bossa
Alongside the work in the town center, municipal teams are carrying out pruning on Fray Luis de León Street and will then move on to Algarb , Mediterrà nia , and d'en Bossa Streets, all in the Platja d'en Bossa neighborhood. In this area , more than 115 ficus trees are scheduled to be pruned.
These actions aim to improve plant health , the aesthetics of the road network and the coexistence of trees with street furniture, lighting and facades, taking into account technical criteria and preventive maintenance.

The City Council appreciates the public's cooperation and reminds everyone of the importance of respecting temporary signage, rescheduling loading and unloading at affected intersections where possible, and exercising extreme caution when driving through the work zone.
