When we think of contemporary offices, we usually imagine them full of color and spaces that encourage collaborative work, although there are also those projects that focus on the total connection with nature and the use of sustainable materials. This is the case of the latest work by Pablo Luna Studio, located at Lodtunduh, south of Ubud, BaliThe studio has projected a genuine bamboo office which surprises with its harmony with the environment and a design that is as functional as it is innovative.
Bamboo offices, although still a minority globally, are increasingly presented as references in ecological architectureThe building, named Estudio Lodtunduh, has 295 square meters on a single floor and was recently completed. Its structure stands out for its use of black bamboo, reclaimed wood and handcrafted terrazzo, materials that bring the project closer to the concept of natural architecture. The central idea of the design is to simulate the metamorphosis of a butterfly, a symbolic nod reflected in the undulating and ethereal forms of the space.
Bamboo as a structural base and sustainable element
The building stands out for its frame made in black bamboo, a very strong, lightweight and locally sourced material. This structure It supports a fluid roof without internal divisions, covered with ulin wood shingles. The result is an open, illuminated space without visual interruptions thanks to the glass and steel enclosures surrounding the modeling workshop located at the entrance.
The interior of the office is naturally divided into different areas thanks to the open floor plan. At the heart of the building are the common work areas, where two large tables allow for continuous collaboration. The wooden floors and black bamboo details envelop the space in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. moving away from the coldness of more conventional designs.
Everything is designed for promote social interaction and the well-being of its users. The furniture, the handcrafted bamboo lamps suspended from the ceiling, and the large windows reinforce the connection with the outdoors. There's even a separate, elevated space for relaxation, with a certain Zen inspiration, perfect for moments of reflection or informal meetings.
The environment and integration with nature
The area surrounding the offices is surrounded by lush gardens, which further reinforces the integration between Balinese architecture and landscapeThe design avoids imposing aggressive or disruptive structures, opting for a aesthetic harmony and functionality in every corner of the building.
The combination of bamboo, wood, and terrazzo not only meets sustainability criteria but also enhances local identity and energy efficiency, earning it rave reviews within the natural architecture sector.
