In Laredo, the floral tradition once again dresses the streets with a display where the daisies play a prominent role among the species that give life to the floats. The event, recognized as a Festival of National Tourist Interest, brings together crafts, music, and thousands of spectators in a setting where the meticulous work of the float makers is evident.

With more than a hundred years of history, the Battle of Flowers has established itself as an event that combines craft, imagination and tons of fresh flowersThe compositions are built on iron, wood, and cork frames, but the finishing touch is provided by cut flowers, with daisies providing texture, color, and a highly recognizable character.

When and where to enjoy the parade

The circuit of the Alameda Miramar It hosts the official route. The floats, accompanied by clubs and musical groups, complete three laps of the route. After the second lap, the jury announces its verdict to the president, and the winners complete the final lap as a tribute to the crowd.

The Semana Grande takes place from August 25 to 31 and the main parade starts at 17:30 p.m. on Friday the 29thThe crowds are massive, so it's recommended to arrive early and follow security signs at entrances and in high-density areas.

Bodybuilders, prizes and a living history

This year they participate 11 floats made by 6 groups, a showcase of local talent. Weightlifter Lydia Valentín has been invited as the main bodybuilder, a recognition that highlights the effort, perseverance, and discipline shared by athletes and artisans.

The City Council also distinguishes Luis Arrebola Muñoz As a veteran floater, he is a key figure in understanding the evolution of the festival. Winner of the Queen of the Festival six decades ago, he introduced technical milestones such as the confetti cannon in 1966 with the Heroine float, which left its mark on the popular imagination.
